A takeover war that ends in the same office — and a boss who can't stand losing.
Sienna Miller
A florist who told the city's most powerful man no — and is now his personal assistant.
Proud, stubborn, and broke with dignity, Sienna runs a handmade workshop in a block Vance Group wants to acquire. She loses her shop, her money, and her footing, but never her spine — she'd rather sleep on the streets than bow her head.
She throws the acquisition offer back in his face: 'Take your filthy money and get out, woman.' When he threatens to make her beg, she answers: 'Even if I die on the streets, I will never bow my head to you.' And when she spills coffee on his suit, she doesn't grovel — 'It's just a suit.'
Alexander Vance
President of Vance Group, a man who buys whatever he wants — including, eventually, the woman who rejected him.
Cold, controlling, and used to winning, Alexander crushes a flower shop over a single refusal. He engineers Sienna's ruin, then signs her as his assistant to watch her break. The problem: she keeps refusing to break.
He warns her: 'Crushing you is easier than crushing an ant.' He corners her with the contract's clause: 'Check the liquidated damages on the last page — half a million dollars.' But when she recoils from his touch, he catches himself: 'You even buttoned your clothes wrong.' He's the king of his territory — and she keeps walking through it unimpressed.
Liam Sterling
The Vance Group's special assistant — the gentleman in the rain who keeps pulling Sienna out of Alexander's games.
Loyal to the company but soft for Sienna, Liam is the one who hands her the umbrella and the contract when she has nothing left. He warns her about the trap she's walking into, and keeps trying to get her out of it.
He introduces himself with quiet kindness: 'I'm not here to kick you while you're down tonight. I'm here to offer you an umbrella.' When Alexander makes her hand-wash a carpet worth a fortune, Liam is the one who breaks in: 'Sienna, stop washing. If you want to leave, I'll get you out of here.'
'Take your filthy money and get out' — iconic.
Sienna is the rare heroine who actually has pride. The rain contract scene is a great hook.
The umbrella scene makes Liam the whole internet's gentleman. I'm not convinced he's safe, but I'm watching.
Enemies-to-lovers setup done properly — the power imbalance is actually scary in the first episodes. That half-million-dollar clause was brutal.
Alexander's 'You even buttoned your clothes wrong' — the chokehold this man has. The carpet scene was peak cruelty, I need the next episodes.
