Meet the Characters
An invisible high schooler, the goddess he pulled out of a screen, and the cheerleader who broke his heart in the hallway.
Leo
The invisible Oakland high schooler who accidentally summons a goddess into his bedroom.
Curly-haired, sleep-deprived, and used to being overlooked in the hallway, Leo lives in a cluttered dorm room full of game posters and a city-lights monitor. He rehearses confidence in the mirror and still loses his nerve at the lockers.
He psychs himself up before walking over: 'You've been petting your hair for three minutes. It's not a cat.' When the goddess appears he can barely form words: 'This is not happening. Yes, this is a dream.' Then he is patiently teaching her mortal life one step at a time: 'Arms first, then head.' Caught staring, he blames the decor: 'The wall is very interesting. Great texture. I'm looking at the wall.' And when his friend sees who he brought home, Leo just shrugs it off.
Effie
Aphrodite herself, pulled out of a Greek mythology game and renamed Effie by the boy who summoned her.
Golden-haired, glowing, and dressed like a statue came to life, Effie has walked straight out of a divine realm and into a modern bedroom. She is beautiful, otherworldly, and completely helpless around ordinary things.
She meets a lowly garden creature and gasps: 'This creature, it has no eyes, yet it moves with purpose.' Leo has to tell her: 'That's an earthworm.' When he asks for a name to call her by, she accepts the gift seriously: 'Effie. I accept this name.' She needs a dressing lesson on the spot: 'You take that off first, the white one, then put this on over your head.' Every ordinary object around her is a wonder she has never seen before.
Jenna
The cheerleader Leo has a crush on, the girl whose hallway rejection sets the whole story in motion.
Blonde, popular, and wearing the school cheer uniform, Jenna is the girl Leo works up the courage to approach with a bouquet. She is kind but already spoken for, and her gentle let-down is the humiliation that sends Leo straight back to his room.
Leo finally walks over with the flowers: 'Jenna, these are for you.' She reacts the way anyone would: 'Oh, my God. That's so sweet. But I'm seeing someone sort of.' Crushed, Leo is left standing in the hallway muttering to the roses: 'The flowers didn't do anything wrong.' Her rejection is the doorway through which a goddess walks into his life.
When Two Worlds Collide
He was nobody at school. She was a goddess on his screen. Now she is walking the halls beside him.
Leo rehearses in the mirror like it is a battlefield: 'You said be confident. I said be confident, not commit crimes against hair.' He carries a bouquet down the school hallway and approaches Jenna at her locker. 'Jenna, these are for you,' he manages. 'That's so sweet,' she says, 'but I'm seeing someone sort of.' On the way back he talks to the flowers like they are his only friends: 'The flowers didn't do anything wrong.' That night, alone in his room, his screen flares gold and a goddess steps out of it.
She is a Greek statue come to life, and she has no idea how the mortal world works. Leo cannot believe his eyes: 'This is not happening. Yes, this is a dream.' The first order of business is teaching her to dress like a human: 'You need to change your dress. How you take that off first, the white one, then put this on over your head. Arms first, then head.' When she catches him looking, he whips around: 'I'm facing the wall. The wall is very interesting. Great texture. I'm looking at the wall.'
By episode five she is exploring his room like it is a new planet. She watches an earthworm move and whispers: 'This creature, it has no eyes, yet it moves with purpose.' Leo sighs: 'That's an earthworm.' His mother yells from the doorway about his future: 'AP Calculus is not optional if you want a decent college.' He ignores her and gives his mysterious houseguest a name. 'Effie, short for Aphrodite,' he says. 'Effie. I accept this name,' she answers. His friend walks in, takes one look, and drops everything: 'Whoa, wait. Hold on, Leo. What the hell did you bring?'

Exciting Plot Highlights
Four moments that define the opening arc - no ending spoilers.
Episode 1 - The Hallway Rejection
Leo works himself up for three minutes in the mirror and walks Jenna a bouquet. She lets him down gently - 'I'm seeing someone sort of' - and Leo retreats to mutter at the flowers. That bruised hallway moment is exactly why the goddess is about to walk into his life.
Episode 3 - The Bedroom Summons
His screen flares gold and a glowing goddess steps straight out of the game. 'This is not happening,' Leo says, already knowing it is. Before she can leave the room, he has to teach her how to put on ordinary clothes - arms first, then head - while he stares furiously at the wall.
Episode 5 - The Earthworm Speech
Effie finds a lowly garden worm and treats it like a miracle: 'This creature, it has no eyes, yet it moves with purpose.' Leo has to break the news: 'That's an earthworm.' Her wonder at the most boring things is the whole charm of living with a goddess.
Episode 7 - She Gets a Name
Leo finally asks what to call her and lands on Effie, short for Aphrodite. 'Effie. I accept this name,' she says, like he has handed her a title. The friend who walks in seconds later has no idea what just showed up at their school.
What Viewers Are Actually Saying
The comments everyone leaves on the wall scene.
What viewers keep saying: they came for the girl-comes-out-of-the-screen hook and stayed for the comedy of a goddess who has never met an earthworm before. Leo teaching Aphrodite which shirt arm goes first is being clipped every single day, and the 'the wall is very interesting' moment has the comment section losing it. People are split over whether Jenna's hallway rejection was too cruel or the best thing that ever happened to Leo, because it is the exact reason Effie walks in.
Why Worth Your Time
Three reasons this one is worth your time.
A male lead who is earnestly, awkwardly lovable: Leo rehearses confidence in the mirror, hands a bouquet to the wrong moment, and then spends his evenings teaching a goddess how socks work. He is not a brooding alpha - he is just a kid who stares at the wall on purpose so he will not be rude.
A heroine who is literally out of his world: Effie is Aphrodite herself, and her fish-out-of-water wonder at earthworms, dress shirts, and dorm rooms drives the comedy. She is divine, glowing, and completely helpless, which is a far cry from the usual self-assured lead.
A premise with a built-in question: the synopsis warns that Leo's sudden rise at school was borrowed, and he will have to grow on his own to be worth her. The opening arc is pure charm, but the debt is already ticking.

'The wall is very interesting, great texture' - sir, she is right there. I have rewatched that beat a dozen times. Leo is the most relatable main character ever.
Aphrodite meeting an earthworm for the first time and giving it a solemn speech sent me. This show is so unapologetically sweet and weird and I love it.
The flower scene at the locker hurt so good. Jenna saying 'I'm seeing someone sort of' and him apologizing to the bouquet? Instantly hooked.
Whoever decided to put a glowing Greek goddess in a messy gamer dorm deserves a raise. The vibe is equal parts magical and cozy.
Pulling Aphrodite out of a mythology game is such a fun hook. Effie accepting the name like it's a royal title tells you everything about her energy.
